We’ve come a long way…

At The OM Group, we focus on ensuring that all of our consultants and trainers have practical knowledge and experience in the sector and that they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to each project.

This has been our ethos right from the beginning and we have come a long way since….

2008

In the beginning

The business was founded by Daljit and Damini Sharma, a father and daughter duo, in 2008, during the last recession. It was called OM Safety and started as a small, family-run business focused on health and safety consultancy, operating from the home office. As the client base grew, another small business was established which focused on health and safety training.

As the client base grew, another small business was established which focused on health and safety training.

Early growth

During this time, the founders decided to take the next step and both businesses became limited companies in 2011, continuing to provide health and safety consultancy and training services to multiple industries, from retail and office to construction and engineering. It was also in this year that we obtained our first accreditations to run industry-recognised training courses.

First employee and
first office

Due to the continued growth of the business and our delivery of training courses nationally, we realised that we needed to invest in premises and we moved into our first official office. In the same year, due to our expansion, we hired our first team member (who is still with us today) and launched our specialist construction services division.

Expansion and growth

As our client base continued to grow, so did our team and we soon outgrew our existing office space and moved into larger premises in the same building. This allowed us to recruit more team members and expand our offering with additional industry-specific health and safety services and accredited training courses added to the existing portfolio.

Evolution into construction specialists

Over the years, being passionate about construction and working extensively with clients and contractors in the industry, we decided to enhance our offering and rebrand as a construction services business. This meant new office premises, with a dedicated training facility and the merger of our two businesses into one – thus The OM Group was born.

As the industry continued its recovery from the pandemic, we were busier than ever in construction and we decided to rebrand and relaunch our website, as well as introduce other new services to our business. We gained further accreditations as an NVQ Centre, added further specialist courses to our existing training portfolio and introduced new specialist construction services for our clients.

To do this, we are continually adding more services and training solutions to our portfolio and collaborating with other organisations in the sector to ensure that we can collectively be a positive voice of influence in the construction industry.
