Health, Safety & CDM Consultant

Location: Coventry, office-based but travel to sites nationally is essential

Job Summary

We are passionate about construction and providing a quality service to all of our clients. We are looking for someone who has the drive to continually better the company and uphold its values.  We are keen to hire someone who is self-sufficient, organised and who will be become a prominent team member of the Consultancy side of the business.  The role will be based in our Coventry office, but will be required to travel nationally, should the business require it.  Working hours may vary on days where you are performing site visits.

Duties Include:

  • Working on a wide range of new-build and refurbishment projects
  • Be an integral part of the Consultancy side of the business by gaining and retaining clients and driving continuous improvement
  • Implementing and advising on the implementation of the CDM 2015 Regulations
  • Assisting in preparing and issuing documents such as Health & Safety Policies, Construction Phase Plans and Risk Assessments & Method Statements in line with company processes and legal requirements
  • Maintenance of all quality standards
  • Upkeep excellent customer service
  • Assist with carrying out risk assessments in line with principles of prevention and thoroughly consider how risks could be reduced
  • Assist with site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented and produce inspection reports
  • Stay up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that may affect the company and its processes and procedures
  • Ensure continued Professional Development based on qualifications gained, including attending seminars and renewing certificates when necessary

Skills & Experience:

  • A strong knowledge of the Construction Industry, CDM 2015 Regulations and Health and Safety Legislation
  • Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Construction industry experience
  • Consultancy and advisory experience
  • Ability to build rapport with clients
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to think outside of the box
  • Highly organised, proactive, uses own initiative and can work independently
  • Honest with a great work ethic
  • Full and clean driving licence

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Health and Safety related qualification, Construction or equivalent (Essential)
  • Membership of IOSH (desirable)
  • Good knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations (essential)
  • 2 + years’ experience within a similar role, preferably in the construction industry
